Once our all-volunteer group had accomplished its original goal by the year end of 2004 our team could have dissolved, Instead, because we had no overhead, were driven by all-volunteers and had momentum as a community service group we decided to stay together. We changed our mission, goals and objectives to help raise funds for the Forest Park 'beautification program', the St. Louis Zoo and other local charities. Since our non-profit status had no sunset as a 501 (c) (3) public charity and was approved by the Internal Revenue Service in July of 2002 with Federal ID number of # 43-1967243 we had the right to continue performing community service projects that would help others in the St. Louis Region. Our charity's IRS Form 990-EZ 501 (c) (3) and fiscal reports have always been made available to the public with a simple phone call to our tax attorney and Founding Charter Member, Mr. Sean Clancy, who is our charity's Secretary/Treasurer & Legal Counsel and can be called at 314-726-6868 or contacted via email at spc@rgsz.com to secure a copy of our IRS returns, which is mandated by law. Also, we make our IRS Form 990 available on our charity's website, which can be accessed at our website at www.1904stl.com. Additionally, we host six board meetings every year and Mr. Clancy gives the attendees an update of our income, expenses, deposits, donations, etc. so that all are informed on a regular basis. In a few cases we will directly 'host and be the main sponsor' of an event to benefit another non-profit and we will collect the donations directly and mail all or a portion of the net proceeds to the selected group(s). However, and in the majority of the cases, our organization takes the position as a 'co-host and becomes a co-sponsor' of an event for an organization and we have the donors write the checks directly to that group. We prefer to help plan, execute and provide volunteers as a 'co-sponsor' for other organizations that need support and not get involved in the collection and distribution of their funds.
